Sign on the dotted line . . . or else

Apparently, the military is hunting down new/old bodies. Amy's father, the exceptional retired Colonel Varo, twice a military judge and currently a federal judge, says that it's way over the line. I think he's right.

Makes me glad I yelled at that recruiter who called me at 8am one Saturday when I was 18, 'cause I'm just the kind of guy who would neglect a signature by mistake.

  • Yep, I can't imagine that their conventional recruiting tactics are much use right about now.

"Son, just sign right here and we'll pay for college and give you a bonus and ...."
    "What about Iraq and Afghanistan?"
"Yes, uh, well...did I mention you get to drive a HumVee?"

I'm sorry, but I have ZERO patience with the hard-line Republicans right now. Their world view is so completely alien.

  • It's nice to know that after losing over 1,000 men and women who in some realm of existence agreed to maybe-if-the-chance-were-to-come-up-but-we've-learned-from-our-mistakes-and-the-future-war-will-be-more-like-a-video-game-anyhow die for our president's decision, we are forcing the guy who sued not to go to war into service. That's ugly. This whole backwards draft is another lack of integrity decision.

We need someone who shows false humility (true humility isn't necessary). The pridefulness and ignorance of the Reps is pathetic.
