France's answer to rude movie-watchers.
I have to say, it's a little bit over-controlling for my taste. I guess there's a part of me that always hopes people will be smart enough to turn off cell phones for themselves. Most of the time people are that smart.
But 98% of the time when phones go off in the theater, it's not because the person owning the phone actually wants to receive a call. It's because they forgot to turn off their phone.
So this takes care of those folks, and the asshole right behind you who is describing the movie scene-by-scene to his buddy back home.
Actually, I would be more worried about people who have important (read: life and death, NOT business important) calls to receive. But those folks don't belong in the theater, anyway. Our parents went out to movies and trusted that all would be well for the two hours they were inaccessible. Why can't we? And it looks like they've got some kind of magic spell they cast over the blocking systems that allows emergency calls to go through. Don't ask me how they do it. It's magic.
